I have been a runner and cyclist for many years and continue to compete in marathons, triathlons, and other athletic events. I have worked in many areas of the health and wellness field beginning years ago with 2½ years of service in the US Peace Corps in Sierra Leone, West Africa where I taught farmers how to build fish ponds and raise tilapia. I have also worked in the clinical setting as the cardiac rehab dietitian in both the in-patient and out-patient setting; as the nutritionist at Alfalfa’s market; for the department of health services as the chronic disease nutritionist; and I have been teaching nutrition and wellness classes online and in-person since 2004.

The Board Certification as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) credential is designed as the premier professional sports nutrition credential in the United States. Specialists in Sports Dietetics provide safe, effective, evidence-based nutrition services that include assessment, nutrition diagnosis, intervention, counseling, and follow-up evaluation for health and performance for athletes, sports organizations, and physically active individuals and groups. The CSSD was developed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency of the American Dietetic Association, the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. CDR is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
